Our client contacted us as they were looking to replace the existing stove with a wood burning stove. Work was required to remove the existing fireplace and to prepare the recess for the wood burner alongside lining the flue. They chimney stack also required attention.
Scaffold was erected to allow access to the top of the chimney.
The original fireplace was then removed, knocking out brickwork for the new opening and cutting out the flooring ready for the hearth.
We carried out a sweep of the flue and inspected with a CCTV camera prior to confirm that the flue was suitable for lining with the quoted stainless steel flexible flue liner. The liner was then pulled down the chimney ready for connection and a new register plate installed.
Work was then carried out to the top of the chimney stack with re-flaunching and pointing as agreed with the customer following our inspection. A new chimney pot and terminal was also fitted above the newly lined wood burner flue.
The new fireplace opening was plastered with lime render, the skirting refitted, and a decorative false beam installed. Decoration was to be carried out by another party.
The customer had chosen Nero Zimbabwe Antique stone for the hearth with square edging which was then laid ready for the stove to be installed. The stove was fitted within the recess and connected to the flexible liner. Testing and commissioning was carried out and HETAS certification provided for the customer.
All debris was removed from site leaving clear and tidy.
