Will I need planning permission or building regulations?

Planning permission is required for a new chimney in a building where there has been no chimney in that position before. Where a chimney stack has been taken down in the past then planning is not required to replace it either in its original form or replaced with a twin wall system.

Building regulation approval is required forĀ  fitting a liner and or stove. Under the HETAS arrangement an authorised installer can certificate the installation without reference to Building Control and the issued certificate acts as building control approval.
